Applications are invited for the full-time substantive post of Consultant Gastroenterologist at a Leading NHS Trust based in Poole, South West of England. This is a new appointment to join five Consultant Gastroenterologists. Any subspecialty interest that complemented the existing department would be considered, however expertise in inflammatory bowel disease would be desirable.

The Gastroenterology Department is dynamic and progressive, the team comprising; one Specialist Registrar, Core Trainees and Foundation Doctors, 2 IBD clinical nurse specialists (CNS), 1 Nutrition CNS, 2 upper GI cancer CNS and 5 Nurse Endoscopists.
We have a newly refurbished, endoscopy department with 3 rooms and the latest Olympus equipment, and provide Bowel Cancer Screening and Bowel Scope along with diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy, and ERCP. The post-holder would contribute to in- and out-patient gastroenterology services and be part of a joint GI bleed rota with Poole Hospital (1 in 7), and weekday specialty post take review but no commitment to the GiM take. The post is full-time (10 PAs) and will be paid according to the new consultant contract salary scale. Less than full-time applicants will be considered.
The successful candidate must possess full GMC registration with a Licence to Practise; a basic medical degree (e.g. MBBS or equivalent); full MRCP (or equivalent); JAG Accreditation for Upper and Lower GI endoscopy; eligibility for inclusion on the GMC’s Specialist Register (or entry expected within 6 months from interview date); relevant CCT or equivalent must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of interview.
DBS – If you join us and need a new DBS check, we will recover the costs through a salary deduction. Applicants who subscribe to the update service or have a valid portable DBS will not incur a charge. There will be no charge to Volunteers/newly hired apprentices. Employees within AFC pay bands 1-4 can choose to pay through salary deductions over 3 months
VISA – Tier 2 visa applicants who are coming to work in an occupation defined by the relevant Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code, and their adult dependants, will need to provide a criminal record certificate from any country they have lived for 12 months or more in the past 10 years.
